Hidden Beneath The Surface

“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living, I want to know what you ache for – and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool – for love – for your dreams – for the adventure of being alive.” – Oriah Mountain Dreamer

Waiting

large

“The longer you have to wait for something, the more you will appreciate it when it finally arrives. The harder you have to fight for something, the more priceless it will become once you achieve it. And the more pain you have to endure on your journey, the sweeter the arrival at your destination. All good things are worth waiting for and worth fighting for.”

The Truth Is

large

“I think you have to understand that just because there are prettier people, you are not ugly. And maybe there are skinnier people but you are not fat. And yes, maybe there are smarter people, but you are not dumb. And the truth is that somebody’s going to love you just the way you are, and it’s not going to matter that there are prettier, skinnier or smarter people. Because to at least one person, you’re going to be absolute perfection, and they’re going to fall in love with you. But before that happens, don’t be afraid to fall in love with yourself.”

Happiness In a Nutshell

“There are endless reasons to be happy like when you discover your new favorite song, when you stick your head out the window when you’re driving downhill and the wind is hitting your face, when you’re cuddled in blankets watching The Breakfast Club on a Saturday morning while it’s pouring down rain outside, when you’re simply breathing this very second. People tend to forget everything they have and focus on what they don’t.”

Routines….

Organization….

Time Schedule….

Each of these topics have zero relevance if you are a full time student in college. Your scheduled classes are the same but the amount of work your professors decide to provide you with changes about every .5 seconds.

One milli second you’re free to do whatever you need to get done, write, paint, watch netflix, go shopping, go get food, and the next, you have 8 papers, 3 speeches, 4 presentations, and a discussion post due by midnight.

I have tried so hard to keep a routine going and have as much organization as possible but when I have so much work come out of the blue in a class when I still have another project to worry about, your routine is about as relevant as cat leashes.

So unnecessary.

I’m still on the verge of creating the perfect schedule that will allow me to get everything done while working around my random events that come up.

And by random events I mean work, and if a friend wants me to go get food with them cause you obviously don’t pass that up.

I wish this article was an advice post on how to get better at organizing and working around a schedule that is very unpredictable but it’s almost a cry for help hahaha.

I need to start using my planner more and understanding that deadlines are not optional..

Also, need suggestions for an indestructible alarm clock that is literally going to shake my entire apartment building to get me to wake up and stay up. I’m a freaking rock in the morning, there’s no life there.

As much as I love the unpredictability when it comes to life, school, is a different story. It’s frustrating having these deadlines that creep up so quickly when you’re working on a project for another class. These professors need to realize we have like 5 other courses to worry about that are trying to compete for the most attention as well.

It only puts more pressure on us and only allows us to work with what is to get done right this very second. Don’t even try to think ahead at your future cause you’ll miss 5 assignments that were due yesterday.

I do get that when some people have more time on their hands they don’t spend it the way they should but that’s their choice. There are plenty others (me) who need that time to figure out what they want to do with their life in the upcoming years and realize what I need to do now to guarantee that that goal becomes a reality.

Chasing your dream doesn’t happen overnight and for sure doesn’t come easy. It takes time, effort, and motivation. All of which college takes away from you.

Most of us only have time to think about calculus, what time we work, and what we need to get done thats due tomorrow morning.

I. NEED. TIME.

Once the time passes and it’s wasted on us doing pointless busy work for our classes to keep our grades up, we’re only getting older and getting closer to the day we are off on our own, making our own decisions and going to a job everyday we want to love going to.

What if we get out of all this busy work mess and we realize it was all for nothing?

We didn’t understand the consequence of not taking the time to sit down and think of our future and what we really want it to be like. This is why so many of us graduate in a degree we don’t even want to be in.

So dear professors,

Please give us more time to find ourselves and help us to understand who we are so that we can take classes that our relevant to our interests. You don’t really want to grade those 1000 word papers about the industrial revolution anyways.

Sincerely,

Thanks again for reading guys, I hope you enjoyed this one! It was more of a rant and a plead but hey, they can’t all be put together advice posts right?

Live The Life

“Live the life you’d be envious of if you saw someone else living it. This is my personal mantra. Whenever I’m going through a difficult time, like a breakup, and I’m wishing to be the person who could get over it and move on, I tell myself to be that person. Instead of waiting to be inspired by someone else and being jealous that they’re living a life I wish I had, I tell myself not to wait for that moment and to start being the person I want to be. If you wish you were the woman who went for that big promotion, learned a second language, dumped that guy who cheated on you, then just be that person. Think, if I have the energy to wish for it, I have the energy to do it.” – Olivia Munn

You Are

“You are the books you read, the films you watch, the music you listen to, the people you meet, the dreams you have, the conversations you engage in. You are what you take from these, you are the sound of the ocean, the breath of fresh air, the brightest light and the darkest corner. You are a collective of every experience you have had in your life. You are every single day, so drown yourself in a sea of knowledge and existence. Let the words run through your veins and let the colors fill your mind.”

You can be great at something and not love it, you can be not so great but also love it.” This short little sentence was just the start of a very mind inspiring post by a girl named Nicki Lamkin. I follow her on instagram (@simply.nic), and absolutely love her profile and everything about it.

When I saw her post and read these words amongst many more that followed, I have never felt more inclined and inspired.

It hit home.

I know many of you would be able to relate to it as well no matter what age which is why I really want to talk about it. Doing what you love can have such an immense impact on your life alone. Yes, you may be good at something but that doesn’t mean you enjoy doing it.

People always tell you to share your talents with the world and inspire others. As great as that sounds, if you do not love it, do not force yourself into it to make others happy. Your happiness and well being should be your number one priority.

I don’t care how nice of a person you are, how much you care for others, at the end of the day, who are you around the most.

Yourself.

So wouldn’t it be ideal if the person you’re around the most is happy all the time?

Obviously Abby.” I know I ask dumb questions sometimes but you get my point.

She goes on to say, “It’s less about what you want to be when you’re older and more about how you can better this world using your gifts.” If you have a talent, that doesn’t mean hide it if you don’t enjoy doing it. Use it in a way that you can better the world and use it towards something you might love doing.

For example, lets say your a natural born singer/songwriter. Your tune and words bring people to their knees. But, lets say you hate singing for big audiences and just putting on a show in front of people. However, you love helping 3rd world countries in creating a better life for them.

Go to those 3rd world countries and help them in any way you can as well as sing. Maybe sing them to sleep so they can fall asleep better. Sing while you are building them new houses. Any way you can bring that gift of yours to the world while doing something you love is a magical thing.

Now for me, I don’t have any talent. I do have things I love to do though. I love to write, talk to people, help people, photography, fashion, design, and much more. So what is it I’m going to do?

Exactly those.

Thanks for reading guys, I know this was a shorter post today but when you get inspiration, you need to take advantage of it. Come back for daily quotes and feel free to follow this blog to receive notifications every time I get some more inspiration! Don’t forget to go follow @simply.nic on instagram, I know she’d love that! Trust me, you won’t regret it, her page is phenomenal. Hope you all have a great day today! I know you’ll kill it!

Courage

“The most beautiful people I think in this world are the ones that have that unique courage to be themselves. No matter what anyone says, no matter how many laugh or mock them, they continue to be themselves even if they are alone. They don’t change to get anyone to like them. They smile because they’re happy and content with themselves.”

Enjoy The Trees

“It’s messing people up, this social pressure to “find your passion” and “know what it is you want to do”. It’s perfectly fine to just live in your moments fully, and marvel as many small and large passions, many small and large purposes enter and leave your life. For many people there is no realization, no bliss to follow, no discovery of your life’s purpose. This isn’t sad, it’s just the way things are. Stop trying to find the forest and just enjoy the trees.”
