This Life Is What You Make It (Inspired By Hannah Montana)

“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends – they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything – they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them – actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

Be That Person

“Be the kind of person who isn’t afraid to ask someone if they are okay twice if they say they are, but look like the aren’t. Be the kind of person who smiles at people even if they don’t smile back. Be the kind person you wished for when no one was there for you. Be the kind person who is brave enough to stand alone in a crowd for what is right. Be that person because we need more people like that in the world. Be that person because people like that are rarer than the rarest diamonds and gold.” – Nikita Gill

New Experiences – The Scary & The Exciting

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

I know so many of us are terrified to try new things and others would jump off a cliff the first instinct they get that it’s safe.

Well, for me moving to Utah, that’s a pretty new experience. And if you follow me on any social media, you’ll see all these amazing pictures of me having the time of my life and just the best summer ever.

Now I’m not saying I’m not in any way BUT I have had hardships being here already for just a couple weeks.

The exciting is the new atmosphere, the new environment, and getting to meet wonderful people.

I wake up excited for the day and what it could entail! I get happy knowing I haven’t discovered everything about the area. I would move to a different state next summer in a heartbeat.

12/10 would recommend trying a new place to live.

However, it’s not all sunshines and rainbows and pretty mountains all the time.

I’ve had roommate troubles, job issues, you name it. It all comes with the package of spontaneity.

The art of figuring it out as you go.

I have never had this issue because whenever I have a situation to deal with, I focus on those positives that most people look past.

What good does only focusing on the negative do?

It’s painful.

Realize what you have and how blessed you truly are no matter how awful your problems are, there’s always a light no matter how small.

“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

I don’t mean to say this to be cheesy at all (cause it’s coming off very deep and cheesy). I say this to be real.

We hear it all the time but have you ever listened to people and took their advice.

We always think “They don’t understand”, “My situation is different”, “How can they say that? It never works”.

You’re probably right, they might not. But that doesn’t mean those people haven’t had any situation similar or aren’t trying to help you.

Those who stick around and go out of their way to help you don’t need to understand. They just need to be present.

Keep those humans in your life, they’re hard to find nowadays.

But don’t make it harder for them to help you. Open up enough to let them. I know it’s hard, trust me, it’s taken me years to find people to trust and open up to.

However, because I did open up, I’ve met some of the most genuine people that I have the honor to call my best friends.

Nothing is ever as bad as it seems.

I know honey, your situation could feel like a death or the end of the world but I promise you it isn’t.

All you wanna do is sit and cry and feel bad and think that there’s nothing you can do.

Your’e wrong.

Find that person, that hobby, that song, that light that will always help you when you’re stressed or in pain. It will change your life.

If you haven’t found it yet, then for gods sake try everything. Don’t wait for it to come to you.

Yoga is a HUGE stress reliever for me as well as writing. I learned I’m a person who likes to get it out whether on paper, through this blog, or talking to someone.

How did I figure that out?

I did it enough to realize my love for it.

I tried it for the first time, and then again, and then again and I got addicted.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Don’t be a lazy ass sitting on the couch all the time thinking netflix is your stress reliever because it takes you away from the world for a period of time.

Please try to find a healthy way to deal with it.

If any of you want to talk to me about any situation you’re dealing with or even just want to talk about the kind of sandwich you had the other day, I’ll be here to listen.

I’ll be present always.

Thanks so much for reading guys, I know my posts get deep sometimes and I’ll try to lighten them up soon but I base them off my life in the time being and what I’m feeling. Don’t be afraid to reach out or even ask me questions about my life or anything in general!

I know a couple cool random facts if that interests any of you 🙂

Hope to hear from you all and hope you enjoy the crazy content I decide to write about! Love you all and I hope you have a blessed Wednesday.

Peace & Blessings ❤

Deep Talks

“I love deep talks. Like, hell yeah, tell me about why you’d prefer to talk to your mom rather than your dad. Tell me about your favorite lyrics in the songs you listen to everyday and why they’re you’re favorite. Tell me about the dog you had when you were growing up and how he was your best friend. Tell me about what kind of books you like to read when you’re alone in your room. Tell me about the things you think about right before you fall asleep. Tell me anything and everything. I just want to be the one you tell it all to. Please let me be the one.”

Hey hey hey guys! Wow it’s been a while but this last month has been one crazy one to say the least for me. I wanted to write a new post to update you all on what exactly I am doing, where I’m at, yadda yadda yadda.

SO for starters, I am currently in Provo, Utah which is where I will be living the next three months. I know what you’re all thinking, “wait what”, “Utah?”, “What the heck are you doing in Utah”.

Even if you aren’t thinking those things, I’m going to tell you what’s going on anyways :):)

I just decided that I didn’t want to stay in Iowa for the summer if all I was going to be doing was working. I can do that anywhere. I can find a job anywhere yanno. So since I visited my friend in Utah over winter break, I have fallen in love with it since and knew exactly where I wanted to be this summer.

After that, I opened up my laptop and got to work. I’m not kidding guys, I had to find someone to take over my lease in Ames so I wouldn’t have to pay two rents, I had to find a cheap place to live here in Provo and I had to find a job. This was all within a couple months….

I’m a last minute planner so it was no surprise to my parents that I had decided this so late in the game but it’s okay because I was determined. On top of this though, I was still in school, working in Ames, and had finals coming up.

You wanna talk about pressure.

Oh man you guys, Utah is just absolutely gorgeous though. It was all worth the pressure, stress, anxiety, you name it.

I just moved in on May 15th, so like 4 days ago and it has already exceeded my expectations. Except the construction, they didn’t add that in the description of the town so that sucks but I mean if that’s the worst thing, I think I picked a pretty swell area to spend my summer.

I’m going to be posting a lot more this summer considering I will have a lot more time! So look out for those pictures, videos and blog posts gonna be popping up on your timelines 🙂

Moral of my update though is if you want something, don’t just sit back and expect it to come to you. Do not hesitate on any opportunity that arises in your life cause you’ll only regret not taking it in the end. Even if it’s the worst experience of your life, you at least now have a learning experience and a memory at that.

If I wouldn’t have done anything about the thought of me wanting to move to Utah, I wouldn’t be standing in my kitchen right now, able to look out the window to see a gorgeous view of mountains, writing to you all about how happy I am to be living here.

If you really want it, you’ll do something about it, at least I hope you will. If you really want to go to Paris one day, make that day as soon as you can save up or book the plane ticket for it, and if you really want that new camera, pick up extra shifts at work.

I’ve never been happier in my entire life and I owe it all to my wanderlust mindset.

Nothing is impossible guys, believe me.

Thank ya oh so much for reading guys and bearing with me when I take forever to write posts or I disappear for a good month and a half… I appreciate you all and the fact that you still come back to read what I have to write! Hope you all have an amazing Friday and if any of you are in Utah hit me up! I’d love to meet ya! 🙂

Peace & Blessings ❤

Hidden Beneath The Surface

“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living, I want to know what you ache for – and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool – for love – for your dreams – for the adventure of being alive.” – Oriah Mountain Dreamer

“The longer you have to wait for something, the more you will appreciate it when it finally arrives. The harder you have to fight for something, the more priceless it will become once you achieve it. And the more pain you have to endure on your journey, the sweeter the arrival at your destination. All good things are worth waiting for and worth fighting for.”

The Truth Is

“I think you have to understand that just because there are prettier people, you are not ugly. And maybe there are skinnier people but you are not fat. And yes, maybe there are smarter people, but you are not dumb. And the truth is that somebody’s going to love you just the way you are, and it’s not going to matter that there are prettier, skinnier or smarter people. Because to at least one person, you’re going to be absolute perfection, and they’re going to fall in love with you. But before that happens, don’t be afraid to fall in love with yourself.”

Happiness In a Nutshell

“There are endless reasons to be happy like when you discover your new favorite song, when you stick your head out the window when you’re driving downhill and the wind is hitting your face, when you’re cuddled in blankets watching The Breakfast Club on a Saturday morning while it’s pouring down rain outside, when you’re simply breathing this very second. People tend to forget everything they have and focus on what they don’t.”

Time Schedule….

Each of these topics have zero relevance if you are a full time student in college. Your scheduled classes are the same but the amount of work your professors decide to provide you with changes about every .5 seconds.

One milli second you’re free to do whatever you need to get done, write, paint, watch netflix, go shopping, go get food, and the next, you have 8 papers, 3 speeches, 4 presentations, and a discussion post due by midnight.

I have tried so hard to keep a routine going and have as much organization as possible but when I have so much work come out of the blue in a class when I still have another project to worry about, your routine is about as relevant as cat leashes.

So unnecessary.

I’m still on the verge of creating the perfect schedule that will allow me to get everything done while working around my random events that come up.

And by random events I mean work, and if a friend wants me to go get food with them cause you obviously don’t pass that up.

I wish this article was an advice post on how to get better at organizing and working around a schedule that is very unpredictable but it’s almost a cry for help hahaha.

I need to start using my planner more and understanding that deadlines are not optional..

Also, need suggestions for an indestructible alarm clock that is literally going to shake my entire apartment building to get me to wake up and stay up. I’m a freaking rock in the morning, there’s no life there.

As much as I love the unpredictability when it comes to life, school, is a different story. It’s frustrating having these deadlines that creep up so quickly when you’re working on a project for another class. These professors need to realize we have like 5 other courses to worry about that are trying to compete for the most attention as well.

It only puts more pressure on us and only allows us to work with what is to get done right this very second. Don’t even try to think ahead at your future cause you’ll miss 5 assignments that were due yesterday.

I do get that when some people have more time on their hands they don’t spend it the way they should but that’s their choice. There are plenty others (me) who need that time to figure out what they want to do with their life in the upcoming years and realize what I need to do now to guarantee that that goal becomes a reality.

Chasing your dream doesn’t happen overnight and for sure doesn’t come easy. It takes time, effort, and motivation. All of which college takes away from you.

Most of us only have time to think about calculus, what time we work, and what we need to get done thats due tomorrow morning.

Once the time passes and it’s wasted on us doing pointless busy work for our classes to keep our grades up, we’re only getting older and getting closer to the day we are off on our own, making our own decisions and going to a job everyday we want to love going to.

What if we get out of all this busy work mess and we realize it was all for nothing?

We didn’t understand the consequence of not taking the time to sit down and think of our future and what we really want it to be like. This is why so many of us graduate in a degree we don’t even want to be in.

So dear professors,

Please give us more time to find ourselves and help us to understand who we are so that we can take classes that our relevant to our interests. You don’t really want to grade those 1000 word papers about the industrial revolution anyways.

Indebted college kids who don’t have time to learn about the quadratic formula

Thanks again for reading guys, I hope you enjoyed this one! It was more of a rant and a plead but hey, they can’t all be put together advice posts right?

Don’t be afraid to comment and let me know what you think!

Peace & Blessings ❤
