Do you ever feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over again? You get up every morning, make the same coffee, make the same breakfast, go to the same classes or same work, study/ do the same material, etc.

It’s boring right?

I just had the realization after I turned off all the lights in my apartment like I do every single night (considering I’m always the last one up out of my roommates), plugged in my laptop and phone to their chargers, turned on my heated blanket and went to bed. It’s the sound the door made when I shut it behind me.

It was almost an eerie feeling like I’ve done this a million times… I hated it.

So I crawled into bed and just sat there like wow. This sucks. Why does this have to be this way?

We’re so used to our routines that we almost do it unconsciously nowadays. Many people have great routines that have helped them become very successful and I applaud you for getting into those habits!

However, there are also many people who are doing the same thing over and over again and staying in the same place. It’s straight logic. But that doesn’t mean you can’t change that.

It takes about 30-40 days to rewire your brain according to Jack Canfield. Creating habits aren’t easy, but when you have a timeline or a number of days you know you need to make it to, it gets a helluva lot easier.

Push through. Don’t give up please. Because realize this. After those 40 days, you’re not even going to realize it’s a habit anymore. You won’t even think about it.

That’s when the success comes. It’s going to start out rough, you might not see success, but even if you miss one day of the habit, you go back to the start.

It sounds like a game. But that’s the fun of it! I challenge you to start a good habit and stick with it for 40 days doing it every single day and never missing. Trust me, it’ll change your life.

However, when it comes to other activities in your daily life, switch it up a bit. If it’s not creating any benefits to you, quit doing it. Make time to do something different every day. Actually, do this.

 

~ Write down a list of 25 things that you love to do. Then put it somewhere you can see every day. I challenge you to do one of those things each day. Just pick one of them, and do it ~

 

Nobody wants to be on their death bed at the end of their life and realize that they did the same damn thing every single day and never experienced anything. That’s insanely boring cmon.

Think about when you have grandkids too. Do you remember your grandma or grandpa ever tell you about these crazy stories when they were younger? Don’t you want to be able to do the same?

I know I do. I want my stories to be crazier. I’m highly competitive so that would make sense, even if it’s my grandparents…

But I want to sit down and see those kids’ eyes light up when I talk to them about the life I’ve lived. I want them to take the idea that they want to live the same way.

I don’t wanna have to tell them about the wildest pastry I invented one time…. Or how I learned how to change a tire at the age of 16… No, that sucks.

So try and switch up the routines often, make it interesting. Try something new everyday, talk to a stranger, change your hair, whatever the hell you want.

Just make. things. interesting.

Okay I’m not one to get sick very often but when I do, it’s hell and a half. You guys can probably guess I’m feeling a little under the weather as I write this and you would be correct.. Where else would I get my inspiration?

Basically at this moment, my inspiration comes from my misery. Luckily I have a mom of a roommate who disinfects everything I look at. Blessed.

But I’m know I’m not the only one who hasn’t been feeling 100 during this time of year. With the weather getting colder, the snow getting higher, and my patience for summer plummeting, it is by far not the most wonderful time of the year.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy snow in some areas but in the midwest, it’s very much just a pain in the arse. It’s not even pretty. When I was in Utah in early January, the snow was actually beautiful. So what the heck Iowa, get it together.

But what exactly is the cure to both the horrible winter views and horrible winter feels? To tell you the truth, there isn’t one exact answer so I’ll give ya a list 🙂 (This might actually be better cause then you have options)

To beat the horrible winter views there really is only one option and that is to move. Get the heck out of the midwest. I know it’s easier said than done but there it is. As far as the horrible winter feels, I think I have a few more options.

Tea

  • Tea has the ability to turn any cold body into a warm, calm, sea of serenity. I love tea if you can’t tell. I really enjoy my green tea not only for the health benefits but for the taste as well. You just have to find the right flavor for you! Also loading it up with honey and a bit of sugar helps too…

Bubble Bath

  • Okay I know if you’re a guy reading this, you’re probably thinking hell no but I can honestly tell you, it’s the greatest feeling in the world. There’s a reason us girls do it so much, not just cause we have extra time on our hands and wanna bathe in the tub instead of shower. But because its insanely relaxing and calming as well. Set up some candles, put on Netflix or some relaxing music and enjoy! I probably take two baths a week at least, just because, not even when I’m sick.

Naps

  • Naps are good at any point in your life but they’re especially great when you’re sick. Everyone always tells you to “get some rest” when you’re feeling ill because it’s truly the greatest cure. Also because half the time you wake up in the middle of the night coughing or getting the cold sweats. That was me last night… It’s not fun… Catch up on the zzz’s, you’ll thank me eventually.

Soup, soup, and more soup

  • Oh good ol’ chicken noodle soup is the answer to all your problems. Okay maybe not ALL your problems. But it for sure will speed up your recovery time. Make some with love and you’ll feel better in no time ❤

HYDRATE

  • You’re body is very dehydrated when you have the flu. It also helps when you have a cough as well, it helps get rid of the mucus much easier (disgusting but true). You don’t wanna be that sniffler in class everyone tries to avoid cause the sniffles are a pretty big giveaway of a walking germ… I mean, I know I’d avoid ya.

Books

  • Alright, this one isn’t going to help cure your sickness but I encourage you to pick up a book if you are able or ask a friend to grab you one. Use the time off you have while you’re feeling miserable to get educated. When you’re not sleeping, snag a book. It doesn’t even have to be educational like I said, but reading a good book is definitely a cure for me and a relaxer. It doesn’t take any effort other than the movement of your finger turning the page or your eyes moving side to side. (Did anyone else read that like the song by Ariana? No? Sweet)

Do You Ever Wonder

People wonder all the time. They think about everything, it’s human nature. But do you ever get deep and wonder if where you’re at right now in life is where you think you should be?

I do all the time.

I wonder if I’ll end up getting the dream job I want. I wonder if I am doing absolutely everything I can to ensure my future to be bright in this very moment. I wonder if I’ll ever find someone who shares the same passions as me and/or supports my crazy thoughts to succeed in this life.

But for now, I just want you guys to know that if you’re having these same thoughts that you’re not alone. I’m still trying to figure it out but I can tell you this, I’m excited as hell for the adventure.

Deep thinking can lead you to either a deep dark hole where you’re only surrounded by your thoughts or it can lead to you finding your dream life by using those thoughts and putting them into action. Don’t let them hang around, they’re no fun that way.

I love love love daydreaming. That’s the best kind of thinking. I do it so much that half the time when I’m talking to someone, I have to respond with “what” every five minutes of them trying to hold a conversation which don’t typically last long after that hahaha.

My mind just loves to soar to places I didn’t even know existed and I love it. As I write these blogs, you guys are getting a sneak peek into what actually goes on up there…

I’m basically getting my thoughts written out to where I can actually see them and that’s one of the reasons I love writing so much. I want to be able to live in an amazing tropical place while doing a numerous amount of activities and be able to vlog/blog about everything I’ve done.

I’m planning to do that very soon too. Possibly this summer, the only question is the destination.

My life was not meant to be lived in one place. That may be the same for many of you as well. My only advice to you though is to not be afraid to pursue that travel itch you’ve been having for so long now. That’s my biggest thing.

Ever since I went to Spain the summer of 2014, I haven’t once wanted to stop seeing the world. I stop spending money on materialistic items that will make me look better and instead I save up for future trips I could take.

Yes my dream job will come eventually whatever that may be. But in the meantime, I am pursuing something else I love and maybe things will fall in to place when I do. God has a plan for me and I stick by the saying “everything happens for a reason”.

I believe that so much because I know that He has a plan, and as much as I do to try and pursue what it is I am passionate about, I know He is going to be right by my side the entire time helping me when I fall. Giving me that pick me up I need in very subtle yet obvious ways.

I don’t doubt for a second that all of my downfalls have been there for a reason. I look at it as another lesson learned and that there’s only one direction once you’ve hit the bottom. Straight up.

Airports…

Oh gosh, I definitely have a love/hate relationship with airports. You probably looked at the title of this article and are like what.. She’s actually writing an article about airports… Yes, yes I am. I’m currently waiting during my 6 hour layover till my next flight so I thought, why not yanno.

Yes, super happy about that and not bored at all.

But I’ll start with what I hate about airports. Well there’s the obvious, waiting. You wait for your plane to leave and then once you get on it, they make you wait about half an hour longer. I know all the maintenance they have to do before to get the plane ready but it just sucks waiting longer.

I also hate how expensive all the freakn food is like cmon, are you really going to charge me $12 for two pieces of bread with a slice of ham in the middle. And even the coffee!

I have a coffee addiction if you guys didn’t know so it’s a constant want. Except it really gets tested when you ask for a medium caramel latte and the cashier says “okay that’ll be $120”.

My wallet can’t afford to wait in airports when I’m constantly hungry. I also hate the people traffic when you’re trying to get to your flight and people feel the need to act like they’re using walkers to move. GET. OUT. OF. THE. FREAKN. WAY.

They should have a slow lane in airports for the people who feel the need to waste time cruising the place when there are others who are having to sprint to get there on time.

Don’t even get me started on the screaming kids on flights. Okay, I’m not a horrible person, I get it, kids cry, they get upset. But when it’s for the whole flight and the parent isn’t even trying to shut the kid up, thats when this girl gets heated.

Not even headphones can mask the volume of some of these 2 year olds I swear.

Okay, enough negativity. The world needs more love so here it is. Things I love about airports.

I love the opportunities. There are multiple opportunities in airports. The opportunity to be able to go wherever you please. The opportunity to meet some bomb ass people. The opportunity to get cultured by people watching.

I like the symbolism behind airports in the sense that there are so many people from around the world and they’re all traveling for different reasons. Some for work, some to see family, some to start over, some to just get away, etc.

It’s a building of opportunities and dreams. I love it.

I’ve had so many conversations with people on planes and in airports that have honestly helped me change the way I look at life, not even joking. It’s crazy meeting certain people and being like “these people had to have come into my life for a reason”.

Stranger danger is real, I’m not saying be open to everyone, just don’t be closed. Listening and having conversations with people have changed my life in more ways than one and I’ve been lucky enough to have met these wonderful people.

So next time you’re in an airport, my advice to you would be to just look at the bright side of airports. I realize I put a lot of negativity towards airports but the way I see it, the good way outweighs the bad.

Try to be positive, don’t count down the hours till your next flight, make use of the time! Be open to conversations with people, be grateful for the opportunity you are given to even travel as far as you can with the use of these planes, and know that you are so blessed 🙂

Mindset

Hey guys whats gooodddddd. Hope everyone’s first couple days of the new year has been amazing! I know mine has!

So I’m currently residing in Calabasas, CA as I write this but let me tell you, I have been to so many other places these past few days I will actually make a list for you all.

  1. Kansas City, Missouri
  2. Denver, Colorado
  3. Salt Lake City, Utah
  4. Provo, Utah
  5. St. George, Utah (Temple)
  6. Las Vegas, Nevada
  7. Los Angelos, CA
  8. Santa Monica, CA
  9. Malibu, CA
  10. Venice Beach, CA
  11. Calabasas, CA

These are just the places we have stopped to look around or do something in. We have been driving all around the west coast to get to all these places. And my road tripping journey started on New Years Eve people.. It’s only day 4 baby!

I don’t know about everyone else but I just have this insane itch to travel to absolutely everywhere on this Earth. Life is not meant to be lived in one place. Do not limit life.

I understand there are many issues with money. However, money does not have to be an issue. Right now, money is an excuse. If you really want to go, you will save up what you can, do research on the cheapest flights and motels (or just sleep in your car, trust me, I’ve done it), and just go. Take the risk.

I know this is a cliché saying, but “life starts at the end of your comfort zone”. That saying is so true and so relatable for many because I know a lot of people have an idea of what they want to do with their life. They know where they wanna be in the moment, who they wanna be with, and what they wanna be doing.

So why are they not? Comfort zone.

People are scared. It’s even worse today with everything else going on such as economy, medical issues, etc. Fear is your worst enemy. It’s what holds you back from living the way you want to live.

Wouldn’t you want to be able to say that you could make a ten, twenty, one hundred page list of the things you’ve done in your life? When people see videos on the internet, wouldn’t you want to be able to look at it and say, “oh I’ve done that”?

I mean, I know I would. That is my mindset.

I don’t have a lot of money, I go to college and have a part time job. But I know one thing, my mindset is never going to change.

Making excuses is just about as equivalent to fear as anything else. Quit coming up with reasons you know aren’t good enough to convince yourself not to do it.

Count to three and by the time you get to that last millisecond of three, do it.

Whatever it is, you do it. I don’t care what it is. The longer you think about it, the more time you have to talk yourself out of it.

I’ve used this tactic in so many parts of my life, even the little things. You’re scared to talk to someone you find attractive, count to three, then do it. Don’t think about it. 1, 2, 3 “hello”. It could change your life.

Start with those New Years resolutions. I know a helluva lot of you aren’t even going to do half of them no matter how much you say you want to. Find a way people.

You can even start at the bottom of your list if you want to. Start off small if this mindset is new to you.

Don’t let this new year slip right through your fingers. Make sure that when it is December 31st, 2017, you can have your list in hand, and a smile on your face knowing you accomplished everything you wanted to that year.

So if you have to go back and modify your list a bit, by all means. Don’t downgrade it to make it easier, be honest with yourself when you write it.

Don’t think about what your salary is going to be or “just in case” costs. Don’t think about precautions on places you want to go. Be honest, if you really want to do it, write it down. Do not let fear control your life. It’s a horrible way to live.

Please take away the benefit of doing these things after reading this. I truly want people to change their lives and realize how much more there is to life. Honestly, I wish I could bring everyone on my trips and we can all travel the world together with due time.
