Seriously, how great would it be if everyone had their lives together constantly without needing a little bit of help from the organization fairy?
Okay organization fairy would be a nice thing to exist but unfortunately, unless you’re one of those very organized, have everything in the right place, know what you need to do, where you need to be and when, I bow down to your existence.
Now I tend to think I am a pretty organized person but this is not a constant thing. I’m usually the “yeah okay I’ll clean on sunday” type of person.
“That trash bag can be taken out tomorrow”, “I’m sure I’ll remember that, I don’t need to write it down.” *Forgets moms birthday for the third year in a row*
I don’t care who you are, you can’t lie to me and say you’ve never forgotten anything every once in a while, we’re all human, you ain’t fooling anybody.
I just thought it would be nice to look up some of these things people like to call “organization skills”.
None of us are ever going to be perfect but it doesn’t help to at least try and have our shit together right?

GET A PLANNER
If you already have one, use it. Seriously. I have one but I always end up not writing anything in it thinking I don’t need to or that I can put it on my phone and I’ll be fine. Get in the habit of every morning either writing in it or checking it. If you’re checking it then make sure you write down everything you need to do the night before.
It’s kind of fun too sometimes if you want to decorate it or make it look a bit more pleasing to the eye instead of just a bunch of words spread out everywhere.
Get one that you know you’ll like to take out of your pile of books/papers and look forward to opening. Don’t just get those plain ones that make you cringe knowing everything you need to do is in this ugly ass book.

If you aren’t the type of person that likes to carry a lot of stuff around, get a calendar! Get one of those giant calendars you can hang up in your house that you can write all over. That helps in the mornings before you head to work or classes to know exactly what you have going on that day.
Yeah it’s not with you constantly, but it is easier to get into a habit of if it’s right in the comfort of your home staring at you all the time.
Get a dry erase one, that would be so much more fun to write on too than one that tiny where you need some magnifying glass to read your penciled handwriting.

Put it away
Put whatever you just used, yes whatever is sitting next to you, in your hand, put it away right now. Make sure everything has a place and that every time you use something to put it back exactly where you just got it from.
Don’t be a lazy ass. It’s literally two feet from you, just take those two extra steps to put it away and off the floor.
It’s just like when you were a kid and your parents always made you put away your toys at the end of the day. Well whether that was just me or not, it was a smart way to teach cleanliness and organization at such a cute young age.

Color Code Everything
Alright this one might be a bit much for some people but for me, I do it with my clothes. I organize my clothes in my closet based on colors and it’s probably the smartest thing I’ve ever done.
Do it for certain assignments you have, tasks, daily priorities, meetings, social events, whatever kind of tab you think you need. Label them too to make it even easier.

I. Love. Sticky. Notes. I don’t know if I honestly could live without them. Especially since I am the type of person to forget certain birthdays, events, meetings, etc. Take sticky notes and write what you need to do that day and place them in areas you know you’ll see. The bathroom mirror is one of my favorites.
They also help with messages that you want to remember all the time too. Ever see people post pictures of sticky notes with positive messages on them in the most random places? Yeah, you see that, and it just STICKS with ya 😉 I’m not funny I swear, don’t give me that pity laugh.

Do one thing at a time
Trying to get everything done in one day when you have a little bit more time than that to complete these things, is stupid. Don’t stress out when you don’t need to.
Make sure you pace yourself with your work so you’re not cramming or trying to do everything at once. It’s a great way to get more frustrated with your organization and mental stability that it makes it even worse.
Watching me try to do homework and cook my own dinner at the same time is probably thee saddest funniest thing you’d ever witness if you saw it. Spoiler, it never works out in the end for the chicken….
But you control your own life. So live it stress free with organization, cute notes, and people to slap you when you forget something for the fifth time that day.
